As some of you know last year I purchased a Volvo s70 glt se at an auction with front end damage which was labeled as salvage, over the year any downtime I had I fixed the car, after dumping about 1k into it for parts and using parts off of the Volvo V70 Parts car the Volvo and paper work was ready for the DMV salvage inspection...First time it went thru it failed for rear brakes(didn't have enough stopping power, you drive over 4 pads and the inspector says stop at which point you slam on the brakes, and each pad measures the % of stopping power per wheel) and a oil leak(which was seeping from oil dip stick where it goes into the block) after cleaning it up and putting new rotors and pads and calipers today was my last day for the reinspection, did not want the leak to start again so we towed it to DMV instead of driving on the dealer plate like last time, and I'm happy to say it passed which I am thrilled about! Next it's time for emissions and time to register and insure it. With some parts from the parts v70 already spoken for, there are still many good parts if anyone is interested but anyways here is a crappy picture I took of the car

Nice work! I'm in a county that requires a smog cert every other year. Even though I haven't had challenges you mention regarding the inspection, it's always a good feeling to drive away with that certificate and know you're good for another round...

TN has no inspection or tests...there are some old clunkers on the road that are all rusted out but lowered and with loud exhausts that have no business being driven. Glad you passed inspection!!

It's not a normal inspection...The car was totaled and I rebuilt it...To get a rebuilt title(so you can register the car) and get rid of the salvage stamp you have to take it thru a salvage inspection where they check the whole car and it has to be 100% perfect, normally we just have emissions once every 2 years

..best part it is in the intellectually superior Nautic Blue...Matt - do you actually smog in CT (with a sniffer) or just test for OBD compliance?

NIce to see one being saved- in Alberta the salvage inspection is nasty- tires have to be less than 5 years old- everything has to be at least 70% no oil leaks no cracks or chips in windshield or light lenses- mine failed for inoperative headilight wipers- all original equipment must work- ended up with $1100.00 to pass as thet=y had to tighten my fog lights and fix some oil leak that I never saw
