2002 V70 X/C no start, maybe alternator?

My trusty old friend died in traffic today. Only 152,000 miles and just got new tires. Now it will not start and engine does not turn over. I have enough power for headlights and cabin lights. My thinking was that alternator was not charging the battery and/or alternator completely seized up. Is there test to see if alternator is nonfunctional (I don't have VIDA)? Any recommendations on making this easy job if alternator is kaput?

Almost forgot, I haven't tested battery voltage yet but will in the morning.

How old is your battery! Test that first. Your P2 car does not like low battery voltage

Sorry for lack of update but I have bad news on my Volvo. Looks like timing belt came off after idler pulley failed. My guess is engine is toast but is there any chance of salvaging this Volvo V70? Would it be worth putting on new timing belt and idler pulley and then fire up the engine?

150k miles and 15 years, that was a good life for an original belt. Unfortunately, there is no chance for the engine, it needs a new/used head.
