2003 V70 2.4T Missing Running Rich

Post by Stltss »

Origionaly fixing a cracked fuel pump that was leaking gas into the car. Patched the housing and all good. A few days later it started to miss. Mis-fire on cylinder 3. Replaced Coil Packs and Plugs. Ran better but would start to miss again after about 10 minutes of driving. Replaced Injectors and is running even worse. Removed 0-2 Sensors and no change. Consistently running on 4 cylinders. Will intermittently fire on all cylinders for about 5 seconds once every 10 miles of driving. Any ideas appreciated. Thanks

That garage doesn't seem that skilled to point the issue. That said, I'd have a second look at the new pump and connections, perhaps by some other mechanic. Maybe a short somewhere, a connector not secured, or even not the right pump. Can also have a look at the PEM - pump controller, and FPS - fuel pressure sensor, but I'd be surprised for these to fail just after the pump repair. Better not replace parts just as 'to see if that's the issue'
Also can check the wiring going to the coil packs. Sometimes the small plastic cover on top of the engine traps and crushes one of the wires.
