Could be- we had figured out a Gates fits it...forget the part number. I would be tempted to switch out the temp sensor on the housing at the same time. I deduce that's the main reason Volvo sold the whole thing anyway (many complaints only after the thermostat replacement).

Housing cover does not have a gasket. If not mating surfaces not super clean, or the cover not tightened enough, or t-stat itself installed in a wrong direction, or it's bent slightly (and it does easily) than it's starting to leak.

The eBay part shows as "not compatible" with my daughter's '07 S60. I can only assume that this is NOT a new thing, but is simply another stat which is compatible with the old style housings.
