You need a code reader to get the P code that triggers the light.

Autozone will read your codes for free, make sure you get the actual code Pxxxx

Here is what I did after many months of the "Engine System Service Required" message. It would come and go. After a while it would just stay on and not disappear. I read something some where that if you take the oil filler cap off and start the engine with it off. The "Engine System Service Required" will disappear. So, what the heck, I tried it and it worked. Unfortunately, a few days later the dreaded message came back.

I took off the oil filler cap and looked at it and found that the rubber seal under the dog ears was cracked and hard. I also noticed that the cap it's self had a lot of oil up in it. I also noticed that the cap is a vented cap. Went to O'Reillys Auto Parts and found that a replacement oil filler cap was only $8.

Bought the new cap and swapped the old with the new and have not had the "Engine System Service Required" message come back on. Been several months and no message.
