Intake Manifold, which bolt goes where?

Post by Cook.p.michael »

1996 volvo 850 turbo 2.3L B5324T 200k miles, USA. I took off the intake manifold while doing the head gasket and the exhaust manifold and heat shield, im having trouble figuring out where each bolt goes and there are a few randomly-shaped pieces of sheet metal as well. I cant find a video for these, hard to find almost anything on the intake manifold. There are some extra holes on the top of the upper cylinder head as well that I cant account for, ones that will be under the black spark plug cover, I put all 40 upper cylinder head bolts in already and the 2 for the camshaft cover. Thanks.

I moved your post with the original as a "ghost" post as you posted in the wrong section of the forum. I think you will get better help where your post belongs- with the 850's rather than with the 2001 and later Volvo's.

I think the intake manifold bolts are all the same. I think the upper rearmost one picks up a bracket for hoses too, I'll check in am. It's too dangerous to look right now, we have Canadian gangs down here looking for third seat parts marauding the ' hood

Upper rearmost (right side looking at engine, left side of car) mounts bracket per photo

Chafe protect them and zip tie them to the manifold to keep them from getting worn, no worries

Best way to handle that is to just let the post sit, then whenever you want to revive it post a new question at the end of the thread so people know what you're up to, and can see the history of the post too. When you post again that will bump it to the top of the list and you will likely get replies to any more questions you post.

Good luck on the job interview!

Back at it, so I started this project on the side a few months ago thinking I would have time to do it all at once and didn't label things as well as I would have if I realized how long I would take, some labels fell off of parts because I used scotch tape and it fell off. I bagged some components that seemed related in the same bags and the comments by a few pics are what I wrote on the bag. Here's the leftover parts, I included the heat shield because yes I know its a heat shield but no I dont remember how its configured. Also included is a pic of the leftovers from the head gasket kit, there's a pipe that goes in the back/exhaust side of the head and it has a oval gasket that I haven't got to yet but the other gaskets and seals I have no idea about, I figure the kit sells to other volvo models and they include stuff for all relevant models. There are some hoses as well but I think I can figure those out and if I cant I'll be back on here. Thanks!

The bolts with the springs on them go with the heat shield that goes on top of the turbo/exaust manifold.
