Tire size question for 2000 s70
So today I picked up a nice set of wheels that I've wanted for my Volvo for a loooonnnggg time...They are the Arrakis 17s..The guy had 3 tires for them 2 which are almost brand new and the other one is a little worn...The size is 235/45/17. My Volvo came with 16s from the factory, my question is can I just get 1 more tire and get them mounted or will they rub? If they will slightly run that's OK, but if they will rub a lot I will get 4 new tires when I save up some money...Anyways here is a picture of the worst rim from the set...Still looks nice, I still have to wash them and might paint them before I mount the tires however I'm super excited

I pretty sure these tires are too wide. What is the offset of the rims? It should be on the rear of the rims (will probably be a number in the 36-49 range). If it is nearer the high end it will most likely rub on the inner fenders at the front and you may have to watch at the rear to make sure it does not foul on the parking brake cables.
I have a AWD V70 R on 17" wheels with a 49mm offset running 225/45/17 tires. At the rear with this offset the rims do foul on the rear sub-frame at full extension.
Neil.

Here is a good link for you to review:

That tire is definitely way too wide for you. I had 225's on my S70 and they rubbed in both the front and back. I bought a set of used Canisto rims from a guy with a C70. The widest you can go without spacers is 215's.

Those rims are from S80 T6 which have offset of 49mm.With that offset on 850/& s,v,c70 you can only go with 205-215 width on these cars without spacers.
If you install proper spacers 225 will be perfect fit,but for 235 you will need to roll down fenders.

Width is not necessarily the problem with these, they are way too tall.Matt88ch wrote:At the shop I have 4 tires 215/55/17...Too wide or could they possibly work?
You can use this handy tire size calculator for sizing the tires right:
