Correct radiator clarification question

Post by amblerman »

Hi Folks,

I just discovered that my radiator is leaking. Typical crusty deposits are forming on the edge of the radiator right at the seem of the plastic body and aluminum fins.

My car is a 99 s70 base model with a manual transmission.

In my casual research it seems that radiators specific to manual/non-turbos are not as common as those for turbo/automatics.

It seems that even though my car is a manual, I think I could use a radiator meant for a car with an automatic but that I would just not use the transmission oil cooler connections on the side of the radiator.

Is this correct? Or am I wrong about this?

Is there any specific advantage to hunting down a radiator made specifically for a non-turbo manual? (better fit, more clearance without cooler connectors, etc)

Thanks

abler man

Exactly right. I've got a recent thread showing the inside of the cooler
