Someone moved the cam sprockets?

While putting together my 02 2.4t
Locking tool on cams. ( I am sure it is locked correctly since it has 2 positions only, and the opposite would force the valves into the #1 piston)
I found the ex mark on sprocket pointing towards rear of car, vvt cam
And I found the intake cam facing towards the front, I moved it one hole ccw and it is on the mark now.

As far as my research this car was dealer serviced and timing belt was done at dealer, could there be some strange mechanics out there resetting the sprockets to these positions?

any speculation would be appreciated.

So last night I left cams locked, moved intake, non vvt to correct position, and on exhaust moved sprocket and realized it was off more than the bolts would allow. So instead of losening the torques which is so locked in. I just made my own mark on sprocket.
Put old belt on, and pulled the locking tool.
Need to move car on next warm day and pull wheel to allow turning motor with wrench.
Also bolted down the water pipe on left rear of head.

Very good download, I have the newest one now.
I am going to run as it is now, maybe when I put the new belt on, maybe reset so factory marks are both cool.

so with mine marked and verified, I was able to start and run car with no error codes at all.
Not sure who moved the spockets or why.
I am guessing that another make car prev mechanic knows has marks at 180 deg from each other and he thought he would make marks point those ways?
