Lowering a V70 1999 + 17inch Wheels Topic is solved

Thinking of lowering my V70 - any recommendations.

Want it to sit like a V70R or an 850R - 30mm? Pic below...
Don't want the ride to be too hard though - any recommendations on kits?

Also need suggestions on 17inch wheels - which do you think suit best?
Which are easiest to get hold of? Do you have any?

850 T5 - Columba
850 T5-R - Titan
850 R - Volan
C70 T5 - Canisto OR BBS Split Rim OR Comet
S/V70 T5 - Perfo

Nice V70!

No matter which lowering kit you use, it will make the ride harsher, even with stock struts and shocks. And the 17" wheels will make it far worse.
My old 850 was lowered with H&R springs (popular kit here) and had Canistos with 225/45/17 tires on it installed. It was way to harsh for me.

You have to decide if you want to trade comfort for looks, but you can't really have both I'm afraid.

I put iPD lowering springs in the front of my 97 850 and I've been happy. The blue ones. Ride wasn't affected as much as I'd worried it was going to be. It's been 5 years. No complaints.

Thanks, yeah, guess you're right, just feels like it needs doing, those are 15inch wheels on mine and look way too small.
I found and bought some 17 inchers tonight and have ordered. Also found a coil over kit.

I have S80 interceptor wheels on my car.

Also making a set of coilover so I can adjust to whatever height I want.

So - Result, I actually got hold of a set of much more modern wheels from a V50 - Cratus R Design and much later.
They needed a little light grinding to clear the hubs but I think look pretty cool - I lowered it too with R Type suspension...

How did you put v50 wheels?
They have different(WRONG) offset ET 52.5 and center bore of 63.4.
850,s,v,c,xc70 have offset ET 43!...but everything between 35-49 is acceptable.Also...center bore is 65.1.

Looks like you have slightly decreased the track width of the car with those wheels. Any decrease gives twitchier handling at speed unless you use spacers. Careful with that.

Also you mentioned you grinded the centre hole to clear the hubs. Without accurate machining you may have vibration issues at high speed due to in accurate centring of the wheel.

However they do look great.
