I recently posted elsewhere that I will be doing the head gasket job on my '97 V90. I'll be buying a new rebuilt head from Clearwater (is this the better way to go or are there better rebuilders out there?), installing new gaskets all around and, I guess, might as well change the camshaft seals while I'm at it.
Here's what I'm wondering about...
What are the odds that my block is cracked (head gasket is blown for sure) and is there some way of telling without pulling the engine and having a specialist magnaflux it? I've read about UV dye testing but does that apply here and how reliable are the results?
cracks in block?
