Hello all!
I bought my S80 a year ago and i have experienced that "clunk" ever since. It normally happens when im coming up to a stop and accelerate before fully stopping. I got the transmission diagnosed at the dealers and there were no problems. There is no flaring etc. Shifts between gears are normally smooth but not always.
When the "clunk" sounds, the car yanks.
Could it be the engine mounts? I discovered that the upper left torque rod is very loose. Can this be the cause?
I thought about getting the transmission flushed and fluid changed but im not sure wether it's necessary.
Here's a video of the torque rod:

May the torque rod be the cause of the "clunk"? I'm getting it replaced anyway but should i also change the transmission fluid?

What fixed the clunk? Or have you not been able to fix the clunk. JuneJackazz wrote: ↑24 Apr 2017, 07:28 Hello all!

Sorry I havent replied yet. I got the transmission flushed which made shifting alot smoother. Also got the torque rod replaced.
I can still feel the yank/clunk when i decelerate to low speed before a hard corner and then accelerate again - this is not always persistent but still enaugh to notice it.
I have learnt to live with it. When i accelerate more smoothly, then then everything feels smooth. There is a slight slack in the drivetrain to rear wheels (can rotate it about 1 cm left to right), guess that might be the cause - it could be the collar sleeve between transmission and angle gear. I'm not gonna rush and get it replaced as i heard it's awful job for those V8's. AWD still works, there are no noises coming from either angle gear or transmission, and if the collar sleeve fails, i'll get it replaced.
