Hey all! Today I embarked on an adventure to take it upon myself to fix a transmission on a 2000 V70 R. The generic code I am getting is P0762 "Shift solenoid "C" stuck open" The car seems that it doesn't want to shift into third (however i havent pushed the trottle that hard) and it doesn't seem to want to downshift at all. After reading 12 posts on this topic I feel that I can tackle this as long as I can order the correct part.
The problem I am running into after talking to 4 parts stores, 2 dealerships, and a shop is which transmission is actually in my vehicle; and which solenoid is "c". I do not have access to a VIDA/DICE that will actually read my TCM, I have 2 months to get this fixed, and all your help is appreciated.

You should have the 5 speed auto (I have a 2000 'R'). It was a final year of that model and they fitted the Aisin Warner (AW50/51 AWD).
I had a look at the pictures of my 'spare' trans that also came from a 2000 'R' and it for some reason had no ID plate on it for help.

I tried to take a picture of the label on the trans in my car. It was nearly impossible as it is just a stamped number on a silver back-ground so any lighting whites it out.
What is says is 55-50SN.
Hope this helps.

Helps a ton. After reading up on the gearbox i almost wonder if it's worth it to swap my 2001 c70 transmission into it. Or if it just has a stigma.
