Question about PCV system on a non-turbo 99 V70
so i've got a bad pcv system. slight amount of smoke from the dipstick tube and a slow inflation on the glove test after warming the motor up. is it absolutely imperative that this gets sorted immediately or is the car still driveable? i read that the routing is different on the non-turbo motors and that the pressure does not build and pop out seals like it can on the turbos, but this sounds like myth. there's no other indication of oil loss anywhere... yet.

Search forum for PCV thread by jblackburn and cn90.
For now, lift the dipstick up a tiny bit to let out the pressure until you finished reading those DIY threads.

Could be a valve at the corner of the manifold if your car has that one.

Don't worry that never happens. You may damage seals and have oil leaks but you're not going to dump all of the oil out in one go. A tiny leak is enough to relieve internal pressure.readallthebooks wrote: ↑19 May 2017, 23:01 ...i just didn't want a seal to blow out dumping oil on the interstate at 70mph
