S80 2008 limp mode problem

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

S80 2008 limp mode problem

Post by Djklubster »

Hi

This is my first post here 😊

I have a 2008 volvo s80 2.0ltr diesel

Ran into a problem where i was driving to work one day and the car went in to limp mode.. car was recovered to local volvo dealer where they read the codes. It showed up the fuel rail pressure sensor. Replaced that and replaced the valve on the high pressure fuel pump and no luck. They said they reprogrammed something and that it fixed it.

2 weeks after that i was waiting outside a friends yard for about 15 mins. So car was just idling. And limp mode came back. Back to volvo and they said they did a bit of changing around and that its sound now.

Picked the car up. The next morning i stopped for a cigerette (or two) while leaving car idle again and limp mode back again.

This ever happen anyone before? Or anyone know if the fuel rail pressure sensor dtc code could mean something else.. seems to drive ok besides when you let it sit idling.

Thanks
Johnny

perhaps http://volvoforums.org.uk/ is better for issues with diesel engines, as we didn't get the diesel here in north america.
