1999 S70 price

Post by costa993 »

Hi, just curious as to how much I should pay for a 99 S70 in good condition and 110 000 miles. Asking price is 2000$ but I find it a little steap. I currently own a 01 S40 but its pretty much on it's last legs. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

110,000 miles is awfully low, check that odometer. If it actually is 110,000 I might offer $1900.

For $2k, I'd want a Volvo with maintenance records. Pick any three:
  • Single owner
  • Maint records
  • Low miles
  • Dealer serviced
For $1500, pick any two.

For a grand or less, you want to look for the absence of blowing up and the absence of catching on fire while you're test driving it.

I wouldn't buy a car that's been in a wreck for any price, unless it was entirely cosmetic.

It is 110,000 miles. Well it's in Canada so it's 175,000 kms. It was driven by an old man who recently passed away so not driven much. No rust and very clean, didn't notice anything other than a rip in the driver's seat. Not sure if it was serviced at the dealer but from what I've been told it was serviced by a dealer mechanic on his own time. Gonna take a closer look this weekend. I was thinking of offering 1500$ at the most. Thanks for your input guys.

$1500 is fair, if you don't have to do a timing belt AND a PCV job AND a complete front end. There are a lot of things you can check out without being a superstar mechanic, for example, are the CV boots torn, brake pads, rotors, tires, exhaust system, shoot, even the heater core (if the owner lets you remove some panels and stuff...) For $1500, I'm expecting to do only one of the "big" jobs I've listed. And a bunch of littler things. Also, the 1999s have an ETM, so that needs to be serviced at some point. (There's a post on here about checking the sticker on it to see if it's original or updated.) Good luck!

2k for a decent runner here. In TO, that is probably priced right

Between $500 and $3500. I always check valves in at www.NADAGuides.com and go from there. Take high retail and minus things that need to be done.

Non turbo? I won't even bother to look at it.

No pictures? Not worth my time to put a price on it either.
