Rude users asking for radio codes

Post by JRL »

I get an email which stated:
"Need a radio code" with the serial number written which, of course is incomplete, I also need a picture of the tag.
Not, "hi, I hear you may be able to help me", etc etc, or something to that effect. Just I NEED A RADIO CODE

I should just drop what I'm doing and get HIM his code? Someone I don't even know and he didn't even sign his name!

Unbelievably rude children these days, and of course he's not getting it from me

You should run a Web site with thousands of daily users, and put your email address and a contact page on it.

(To be honest, it's not bad. For years I've seen every type of car related request possible. Radio codes, parts, advice, complaints, solicitations, questions... Volvo heavy equipment and trucks too. Some nice, most polite, some demanding. Some in Spanish, some Chinese, some German and French. Mostly English or poor English. At least they're trying.)

Not trying to "outdo" you JRL. Just saying I've been there many times.
Help keep MVS on the web -> click sponsors' links here on MVS when you buy from them.

Also -> Amazon link
. Click that when you go to buy something on Amazon and MVS gets a cut!

Matthew
In your RADIO CODE help forum, I wish you would delete my comments, they're in at least 2 maybe 3 of the sub forums.
Thanks

That's kinda vague. Do you want me to remove sentences from different posts where you wrote you'd provide codes for people?

If you would I would appreciate it or unlock those 4 threads for a day or two, PM me and let me know that they're unlocked and I will post a disclaimer that I'm not doing this anymore!
I've been helping people for years but this is really enough now.

People need to find another source and/or insist on their dealer doing it.

I read in one of those 4-5 threads where someone already carefully posted what is needed from the new owner of the radio.
Once they have a picture of the sticker and either a clear picture of the (long) serial number or carefully copy it down so they can bring it in or email whoever next will do these, there is no legit reason why any halfway decent parts person can't go into Volvo's program and get it.

It's a shame. I don't have a problem getting codes once in a while but lately these rude people have spoiled it for the rest of the polite people that have asked me> (Spoiled, not spoilt, which what you Brits say. There is no such a word in American English)!

What I'm surprised is how many people are still asking, now 20+ years later!!!

JRL, please edit any of your posts you want to now. I temporarily paused the 6400 minute editing window that normally applies.

Matt
Thanks
I think I got all but one. I sent it to you as a reported post.
It was courtesy of Dave, (MIJ) without asking me. He posted my email stating that I do these.
I can't edit his post.
You really should consider adding a DELETE button. Every other site has one and there is no time limit for someone to delete his or her post(s).
