Door does not unlock

Hey Folks,

I attempted to sift through the forum for this situation, but I could not find a similar issue.

My 2006 S60 rear drivers side door does not unlock using the internal lock switch or the FOB. I hear the switch actuate but it does not pop up. The switch works when I lock the car, but not when I unlock it. This requires me to unlock the lock manually from the inside.

Please share your thoughts, recommendations and experience to address this matter.

I had a similar issue with my "P2" car so I may be able to help. You will need to replace the door lock actuator to correct your issue. I believe there are "how to's" to help you do this...maybe even check YouTube for a video. I picked up a used actuator from a junkyard since new ones from Volvo were pretty pricey for an older car.

You need a new lock/actuator

Your call on new vs junk yard. FCPEuro has new door lock actuators for $180. I bought a used one for $20 at my local junkyard. Of course, no guarantees with used parts (except for credit exchange at my Pick-N-Pull.)

S60 door lock actuators are the same PN as V70 door lock actuators (maybe even S80's) if you go the junk yard route. Best to double check the PN's listed on the part.
