I have swapped out my mirror and have regained the FOB control, however after setting my seat/mirror memory then closing locking/unlocking door both mirrors move up from my set position when i open the drivers door...if i dont re-adjust them and lock/unlock the car they move up again and start clicking because they have reached the upmost adjustment limits.
Ive read somewhere to lock unlock 3 times but still same results, any help please.
setting the seat/mirror memory is holding both 1 and mem buttons for a few seconds??

Did the 2001 xc70 have colour coded mirrors or has someone fitted V70 mirrors to my xc?
Anyway i almost thought i could fix the problem after looking at the haynes wiring diagram, the diagram shows wires that control the memory going to the mirror, so i started pulling wires trying to disable the system however with ever wire pulled the mirror kept on moving by itself.
At this stage disabling all motors using an on/off switch seems to be the only option other that a software update

My recently sold 2001 XC70 had colour coded (non folding) mirrors. Our 2002 XC70 has the large black mirrors.
I have 2 colour coded folding mirrors as spares for my T5 in case they fail.

I had the same issue on my 2001 XC70, but only for the right side. I never did anything about it, but I did read somewhere that something is wrong with a module. As I never tried to solve the issue I cannot say for sure. You should be able to see an error in VIDA if you have this tool and the module has an issue.
That said, have you tried setting the mirrors and then unplugging them? I am not sure if it will trigger a dash check light. If not you can always unplug them and hope they don't move. Maybe check to see if they have a fuse you can pull and live with the side consequences.
I agree it is maddening.

Ive tried numerous ways of setting the memory, at this stage i believe they are Non-memory mirrors on a car that has a memory module (as per wiring diagram) , i like my off side mirror when reverse parking so i can look down at the kerb. For a fix i intend to install a relay to act as a switch that activates the mirrors only when the key is set to acc as the mirrors behave after i open the drivers door and put the key in the ignition.

None of our Volvos have mirror memory. If they do it doesn't work. If you have Vida you can see the software version of DDM and PDM in Network.
Doublebug (MVS member) can then reprogram over the internet any used DDM or PDM module to match the software version for small change. Any PDM or DDM will do as long as it has correct buttons (not the XC90 type)
To program press and hold M then simultaneously hit 1, 2 or 3

I swapped out the DDM on my 03 V70 without reprogramming. But you have to make sure the part number on the little white sticker matches the original DDM.
I wonder if the mirror positioning can be recalibrated like the side window, where you pull the fuse while its moving, etc.

The door module software was upgraded for the 2002 MY though part number remains the same. Ask how I know...... So a module for the same year, model etc MAY work or get a newer one from 2003 or 2004 and get Doublebug's (or Yagger's) help
