Has anyone had experience replacing the slider assembly of the Sunroof? I'm struggling trying to figure out how to get the cables to reattach.
I'm fixing my stuck sunroof, after taking off the glass I found the problem was a small broken arm within the plastic sliding assembly. Why they made load-bearing, moving parts out of plastic is beyond me...
Instead of ordering new slider/rail assemblies online ($150+ Last I checked) I went down to a local Pick n Pull and nabbed a few easily from there, $15 each! I don't know if I took them out right, though. I undid all the screws, wiggled it loose, and then yanked the cable out of each one (It looked like it had a flared tip? Like brake line ends? I should have taken pictures... I'm not sure if that's the correct method of excising the rails, it took quite a bit of force to yank em out.
Anyways, I plan on switching my old rail/slider assembly out and putting the new ones in, but I want to know I'm doing it right before I rip the cable out of my old, broken slider only to find out I've broken something further (I had a pain in the neck finding new rails, lord knows finding a new cable is the last thing I want to do) I haven't found any tutorials on this, which makes me hope that it's as easy as it looks and that I'm just overthinking it.
Anything helps, Thanks!
