Red wrap tape

My roof trim strip is peeling, and I'm looking at using trim tape instead of paint, to refinish it. Has anyone tried that, and has anyone found a tape color match for Volvo Red? Or maybe the shade of grey Volvo uses on body trim?

Just thinking that no tape, with its requisite acrylic glue, would stand up to the heat.
If you do go that route I suggest real gaffers tape. It's the stuff used in the TV and film industry. It ain't cheap.
It comes in a buncha colors and will always look like amateurish patch job.
It'll last a long time then need to be reapplied. Of course, that's after you spend hours messaging the old glue off with some citrus product.

Thanks for saving me a hassle. I tried to redo the same roof trim on my 855 with no success. A real pain to remove and thoroughly clean and prep and still it came out ugly. I was lucky to find another wagon with good trim to replace what I had.
Not so much luck with a red wagon. Maybe black, instead?

The beauty of gaffer's tape is that it rips squarely. If need be one could tear a piece 1/8" wide 9 ' long.
The stuff also contours well because it's cloth based.
You have no idea how many times you've seen something trimmed or finished with gaffer's tape. It takes to painting with latex (scenery and common house paints) very well but that doesn't apply here.

Black is the one to go with. I promise you your eye will soon ignore any trim filling or bordering you do with it.
You may even dodge any amateurish look due to your "board flat" roof application and the soft texture the tape has.

My SIL smashed her Toyota RAV4's spare tire cover and I was able to make it useable with gaffer's tape. Her car was silver and the grey (original color) actually blended well.

Having a second thought about repainting the original trim to match the gray body trim. Does anyone know what color Krylon (or maybe some other rattle can available at an auto parts store) matches the Volvo body trim?
