Great S70 to Repair & Get Back on Road

The car body and interior are in outstanding condition. (Sliver with Black Interior) Unfortunately, last week the water pump bearing failed which caused the timing belt to disengage. As a result the valves are now bent and the car is temporarily inoperable. There may be further damage but it would require a more thorough disassembly of the engine - and I am not a mechanic. And the air conditioner does not work. So the car is being sold in As-Is condition. Otherwise, as you can see in the photos, the car is in very good shape. Power windows, sunroof, door locks. AM/FM radio, CD player with burl walnut trim. The All Wheel Drive and Turbo run well.

A new head and water pump = $500 for DIY. $1500 for a mechanic in CT. Depending on the miles your car has, the S70 is probably worth about $1500, after repairs... Then there is the potential problem of the bevel gears on an 18 year old car.

What mileage/ age had that waterpump, Volvo or aftermarket? Guess I'll replace mine when doing the timing belt next time...

Nice and clean. Until I saw about 3 days of work cleaning the engine bay, just to see whats where. $1200 asking price is quite a stretch for a lawn ornament with close to 200K miles.

Well put, Klausc. It's unfortunate but true! It's all too common here in the tri-state area (NY, NJ, CT) to see P80 owners try to get $1K+ for a car with bent valves. I imagine it's because mechanics are so damn expensive over here and owners want to recoup some of those costs...

A non working AC and a head job: If you sum up just the parts I could buy another one of those, and if you have it done by a shop I could get 2 more. Which would leave me with 4 great P80 lawn ornaments. Too bad he is only selling one...
