Greetings- Over the past year or so, I've noticed that, when my air handling is set to 'Auto' the temperature can vary wildly, basically it seems like it is trying way too hard to either cool or warm the car. Sometimes it works fine, but mostly it just seems to do whatever it wants with respect to the direction of temperature.
Obv. I can control it with the manual fan, etc, but it's sort of annoying to have to do so since it worked so well up until now. I've cleaned out the 'port' on the center console that I presume contains the temperature sensor with vacuum / air. No good.
Any thoughts on how to best diagnose the problem?

Could it be the small sensor is about to fail? I've heard there's also a small fan inside the circuit board, that may get stuck. Not sure if it may be related.
Otherwise, perhaps a CCM calibration may help?
