Cluster swap

Cluster swap

Now I have ran into a few V70r and s60R stuff lately and was surfing the webs and noticed that the cluster for either of these vehicles COULD(?) be swapped into my 850R ASLONG was it was post 95 (which mine is 97). So in theory (outside from the odometer readings being different) - everything else should be plug and play.

Right? :?:

Hm, not sure of this as the architecture for the electrical systems are totally different. Maybe a 98 V70R might swap over, but again an 99-00 is different again. Do you have a link to where they claim this can be done?

I have tried V70 of different years (I think 99 into a 98) and they did not work as a plug and play. I too was told it would work.

99 is the first low speed CANBUS so it isn't go into anything earlier

Abscate - Isn't Canbus illegal except for medical purposes?

It depends on just how much CANBUS you partake of. And any amount is okay as long as you don't inhale... =)

That's why this site runs out of CO!!!

2004 XC90 T6 AWD: 186k, 60 on transaxle ( traded in )
1998 POS70 N/A: DD/training aid, 236k but really about 240k, I think...ABS module( passed on to son who sold it)

No, the gauge clusters will not swap.(edit-I stand corrected) But the individual gauges will. CANBUS or straight, the gauges are plain old electrical. I don't know about 850 interchange though.

I have put a 1998 S70 cluster into a 1997 850 and can confirm it will work. Odometer will not be accurate but trip computer will even work.
If I paid attention to signs with little symbols I’d never find anywhere to park.
