98 V70 XC Chassis Indentification?

Post by sonnyny »

I need to replace my front U-joint on my front driveshaft. I have found the part online on a few sites but they are all asking me which chassis type, 465399 or 465398? Anybody know how to figure this out? The last six of my vin # is 498094.

I dont think its the vin # plate they are looking for (located in front of the drivers side on the dash which you can see from the front window)

I think the chassis number is found on the product plate inside of the engine bay on the top hump of the drivers side wheel fender bay ( for north american cars ofcourse). Stand on the drivers side of the car and face your drivers side wheel when you open the hood and look down on the wheel bay.

You will see VOLVO on the id tag and the first line is where the information would be.

On my 850 it will show "850", then model year letter "p"=93, then a works code then followed by a 6 digit number. This is the chasis number for my 850.

Why not have a look there and see if any of the numbers you mentioned are on it?

Perhaps some of the x or v70 drivers can confirm this?
