Tow 2016 with dolly?

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

Tow 2016 with dolly?

Post by NEHOG »

I spend a lot of time on the road with my RV. We'd decided to take the S80 with us this winter trip (five months of exploring) and we use a tow dolly. Any hints or suggestions? Things I want to avoid:

The car applying brakes/parking brakes for whatever reason.
The alarm/security system activating due to angle and vibration.
Anything else that might become a problem.

Anyone do this, and any thoughts.

The 2016 S80 is FWD, with electric parking brakes on the rear wheels. Front wheels are off the road on the dolly.

turn ignition off and then remove the F1 and F2 fuses in the box in left rear side of the trunk fusebox. Those ar the electric park brake fuses. You could remove ground cable from battery too if you like instead. The car doesn't have steering column lock so that is not a concern. If you remove fuses then put them back before key on to avoid cluster messages and blinking p brake light.

Thanks, I was thinking along those lines. Disconnecting the battery ground might be better as it will disable the security system from getting tripped. (Not sure if that is a problem or not...)
