I am helping a friend out with a 07 V70 he recently purchased. One of the tasks is to change out the sunroof assembly, the one on his car has a messed up track and doesn't sit/close properly.
I grabbed one out of the junkyard (complete assy) from an 02 S60. Once installed all I can get it to do was retract and it will not extend again! There is also a clicking noise to be heard some times when it did operate that once.
So my question is: Is this a hardware or software issue, or both possibly? There was no way to test the part in the yard so I had to just hope, but this one doesn't look good.
Any ideas?

That may be quite a stretch going from an 02 S60 to an 07 V70.
Were the PN's the same for the sunroof assembly?
Did you disconnect the battery before removal/installation?

Yes, battery was disconnected. The panels themselves are the same, not sure on the guts, but it does bolt right in.
