So I have a new to me 2005 V70. I like most things about except that it does not have a tape player. I own three other 70 series '99 and earlier and the tape deck is quite handy as an alternative to an Aux outlet.
I know the '04 had a cassette player and see them on ebay. Would an '04 radio work on an '05?

It will work. Make sure you have the correct front face shape. The HU-650 replaces the HU-850. The only glitch, if the radio doesn't have the same software, the backlight on the front plate won't work, along with the radio buttons on the steering wheel. No way to know until you try it. Don't put the key in the ignition while swapping it. You can also plug the amplifier into the HU-6xx unit.
You will however find the Hu-600 units don't have such good sound as the HU-800 ones.

I stand corrected. You can also get a Grom (may want to double check for compatibility with your radio unit)
