Taking apart the door panels

Post by EricB »

Hey all, long time lurker and miner of information. Just joined finally; thank you to all the contributors! I have successfully done many things to my xc90 because of the walk through tips found here.

My latest endeavor is to refurbish the interior. Headliner was falling, ended up removing it and painted the foam liner. Same with the A and B pillars. Looks so much better. Sunroof drains flooded my carpets. Pulled them all, dried them out, used vinyl spray paint. Very happy with that. Pulled lower interior plastic trim, used vinyl spray paint to renew those. That looks awesome now.

My current issue is this- I want to paint the door panels, but I’m trying to make it two tone. The leather piece that sits where the door handle goes looks like it can be removed, but so far I can’t figure out how to get it apart. Anyone know anything about this? There are screws to hold down the handle mechanism, but it’s being held down another way apparently. Help!
