P0101 and P0302

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

P0101 and P0302

Post by hu5ker555 »

2005 S80 2.5T, 180k miles

Began running rough. Had Firestone pull codes and they got P0101 which would suggest the MAF. Cleaned the MAF, no change.
Kept driving for a few days, then pulled codes myself and got P0101 and P0302. This would suggest the MAF and Cylinder #2 misfire. Replaced the spark plug and everything is fine. While doing so, noticed after removing the cover plate on the motor that there was a decent amount of oil sitting in the low spots. Looks like it may have found its way out through the oil filler cap and settled down in Cylinder #2, fouling the plug.

I've ordered a new oil cap (with new gasket I assume). Will mop up the oil, replace all the plugs, and hope it all stays dry and I have a happy Volvo again. Will let you know how this turns out.

UPDATE...so I replaced the oil cap, replaced all the spark plugs, and mopped up the oil. There was almost an inch of oil sitting in hole #3 on top of the spark plug. So far so good.
