I have had this on P80's before, and never got it satisfactorily sorted. When turning the steering wheel I get a creak/squeaking from the steering wheel area up high. I'm not sure if it could be the clock-spring or is there a bearing up high that needs lubed?
If so what could it be and what lube to use? Do have to remove the just re-fitted steering wheel and airbag again or can it be accessed from under the to steering column covers? I plan to pull them yet again to swap out a better turn signal lever with legible printing on it, and test and probably leave a used antenna ring for the new one to keep as a spare for the worn one in the 'R'.
Thanks,
Neil.

Likewise my 98 V70XC had it but it does not happen all the way around when turning. It only happens at certain points.
I thought it might be the steering wheel rubbing on the plastic column shroud, but there looks like a gap. Wondered if it could be the clock-spring needs some lube, but can't find a reference what to use. There must also be a support bearing up top there which might go dry. I've had the issue at the bottom support bearing for the column where it goes through the floor as that bearing can go dry and noisy. Fixed that with lithium grease.
Neil.
