heater blower noise

When I put my heater on higher speeds it sounds like an airplane taking off...any idea what's up ? Volvo Lady n.s.
Sounds like your blower motor is dying. Either that or there is some debris in the ducting. My 97 V70 had this and a 2nd-hand blower motor cured the problem.
It's not a difficult DIY job on the 850 and 1996 to 2000 V70s, don't know about the later models. The blower motor is accessed via the glovebox, which needs to come out.
Apparently at the time Volvo fitted a variety of different motors are they are not interchangeable, so you'll need to know which one you have before heading for the breakers yard. the part number is embossed on the motor housing, and you can read it without removing the motor itself.
