Upper engine mount, different style than most write-ups

Post by jtp »

I ordered this part:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XB ... UTF8&psc=1

Can't find a write up for this style mount install but from looking at the car it looks pretty straightforward. Just unbolt the old mount from the top of the engine and the remove the bolt that goes through the middle of the rubber bushing.

2 questions:
1) Am I missing anything?
2) What torque spec would I be going for when bolting on the new mount on the top of the engine?

Thanks! -jtp

It may be where I am located but I cannot see the picture. Are you speaking about the rectangular mount instead of the circular one?

Just realized that isn't an OEM picture... Sorry about that. May have it kicking around...

That is the 99-00 top torque mount.

Remove the spark plug cover ( 8 x Torx bolts) as it covers 2 of the bolts. You may have difficulty removing the cover due to the turbo to intercooler pipe. With careful manipulating it can be done.

4 bolts (watch out which positions they come out as they are different lengths) into the cylinder head. They torque to 50Nm (37 lb/ft)

The 1 x bolt through the mount center hole to the toque rod is tighten to 35Nm (26 lb/ft) and then torque a further 90 degrees.

When I replace this, I found difficulty getting the cross bolt in as the engine (even with all new lower mounts) would not align. Apparently this does happen and you need to jack the oil pan carefully to get the holes to align.
