Door does not open from exterior handle

Hello,

I have a 2012 S60 and recently I cannot open the drivers door from the exterior of the car. The interior handle works without a problem. There is tension on the outside handle when I pull on it similar to the one on the passenger door. I am not sure that it is related but about a month ago I noticed that when the car was locked the drivers door did not lock. I could open the door and it would set off the alarm. The other doors were locked.

Could this be an electrical issue or is the door handle all mechanical? Any suggestions as to what I should check?
