First at all try to reconnect battery one more time.
But, you have to do it correctly:
remove key from ignition, hold on 5 minutes, then disconnect battery.
After waiting 1 minutes, put key to ignition and turn it to second position (position before Start position).
Then connect battery.

If it is not help, maybe you right and you have issue in the UEM.
You can buy used set UEM+Remote, but remember: it should be correct set with right software number for your car exactly.
Or, if you have a DiCE, you can try to use online service for transfer your original data from you UEM to used UEM.
