Rad Fan Turns On But Wont Crank

I have a Volvo 850 turbo that I have just bought, and there seem to be some electrical issues. The battery isn't bringing any power to the car so when hooking it up to a charger the Rad fan immediately turns on, and the AC keeps turning on and off regardless if it's turned on or off. The last thing is that when I turn the key over there is no ignition at all, and the dash seems to dim. I have done some research and have only seen one post about it being the ECU sensor.

That sounds like a mess of electrical problems - many more than one. Do you have any history on it?

The guy I got it off of gave me all the past maintenance inspections and what not, but nothing electrical ever came up. It has also been sitting for about a year. I am thinking of running codes on it tonight

Yes without a battery maintainer. Would that have shorted the system out?

Bring that battery to a car parts store in the morning - should charge and be able to be tested by afternoon. Odds are the battery is toast...

No but Skloon is correct. It could be wire damage due to Mice. The plastic insulation on the wiring is a soybean based plastic. In times of famine, mice will try to utilize the plastic as a food source. A thorough wire harness inspection would be a good start.

So, I take it was chewed wires somewhere? It would be good to know what was damaged.
