Awd fuse blows right away

Post by Europroblems »

Hey guys new to the sight I’m not used to working on these things so any input would be appreciated. I have an 07 Xc 90 with the 4.4 v8 awd didn’t work so I checked fuse and it was blown so I put a new one in and it popped right then and there car in Park not even running. I unplugged the dem and Haldex Pump and put a new fuse in and it popped when I plugged Haldex back in. But I did an ohm reading on the pump and got 9.0-10 ohms wich is normal for a pump am I missing something or is my pump just shot. Thanks again

Ferris: You have a short. You have checked only the end of the circuit and it appears it has passed. I would look for a fray wire somewhere between the fuse and the harness end both sides. Maybe something is grounding out on the "way back".

Other item is to check your relays and shunts. This assumes your Haldex Pump is not the issue, but 9-10 ohms does sound normal.

I don't know if one can send direct power to the Haldex Pump without causing an issue to see how it behaves. That would be my last step after checking all the wiring, shunts and fuses.

What relays and or shunts control this? Is there a diagram because tracing that wire back is almost impossible with where it goes

Try this: http://www.volvowiringdiagrams.com/volv ... agrams.pdf

Looking at the links I sent earlier you may also look at the temp sensor on the Haldex for a short. Not sure if it is related - the wiring diagrams should tell you.
