I believe the lighting went out once before, hit a bump and it came back on. So I'm assuming there is a loose connection somewhere. Tried to do a search for this, but all I turned up was replacing bulbs. I don't think I killed the bulbs in the incident, but maybe. I find it curios that power on the left and right sides would be separate. I have not pulled the stereo yet, as I was unsure of how temperamental the anti-theft system was. Any tips on where to hit it

Stereo Lighting Half Out
So quick story, I was driving the other day hauling skis. I had to slam on the breaks, resulting in the skis flying forward and slamming into the stereo. Everything seemed good. Last night I went out for a drive, turned my lights on, and noticed the entire right side of the stereo and climate control illumination was out. Hit it in a few places and got the climate control to light back up, but most of the stereo is still out (pic).

or what to look for?

Somewhere on MVS there is a how-to on replacing the bulbs. One may have been dislodged or have a broken filament. Might as well replace the lot while in there. The tricky one is the one for the LCD display as it requires soldering if I recall and having to desolder the display to access the bulb. That one is working so no worries.

Alright, new bulbs it is. Anyone got a source for those? Guess I'll also do the aux jack mod while I'm at it.

You might have cracked the circuit board, or broken a couple of bulbs. There are 3 - 2.2Ohm resistors that supply power to 1 or 2 bulbs each. The resistor on the upper right got burnt up. Best to check the bulbs with a multimeter, should be under 20 ohms each.
You'll have to check the back of the PCB to see if you have a cracked circuit board. It can be fixed, but it isn't that easy.

It's a very easy repair unless the board cracked. If it did, I would suggest running jumper wires to allow for flex in that area again...
Wisdom requires knowledge as a prerequisite, but knowledge can be developed due to a lack of wisdom.
In order to learn how to fix something, you must first learn how to break it.

The DIY below has Radio Shack bulb info.
Since Radio Shack is closed, you can find equivalent on ebay, just buy a pack of 10 bulbs on ebay for cheap:

IIRC, then these are T1 bulbs 12V 50 mA type.
