Coolant Leak

Coolant Leak

I have a coolant leak a little bit driver side of center near the firewall. It has left a small puddle of coolant the last two times I left it to idle.

Anybody have an idea of the culprit?

Could be dripping down from the PCV tube coolant connection. It's a bit of a pain to get to and see without removing a few things.

- If not already replaced, I don't know how your turbo coolant hoses didn't burst yet at 23 years old...

Agreed, turbo coolant lines. And actually plenty of them make it this many years, the relevant measure is miles not years, but they do probably look like mush. I'd figure it out and fix it before driving much if at all.

The OEM hoses are high quality , long lasting stuff

I did my first cooling system refresh on my 99 At 150k, 15 years

Hmm...
The cars built prior to '99 do not have that coolant line.

1. Turbo pressure.
2. Heater supply.
3. Heater return.
4. Lower radiator.

You'll need to pull the intake and feel around.

If you have to replace a heater hose, get and replace the firewall junction as well. It will likely break when you unplug the quick disconnect (23 year old plastic).

I'm going to guess turbo coolant hoses.
'97 854 T5 - Manual Swap/M4.4/COP/NA cams/P2R Brakes/16T/ chassis bracing/ XC70 nose swap
'97 855 GLT - Hers. RN swap/16T/COP/VVT/exhaust/302s/Flashed M4.4/ chassis bracing/ 2 kid seats
'78 GLE - Waiting in the wings. Future whiteblock/T5 swap.
