Anyone have any recommendations for tires? I need to get a set of 4. Live in Florida so would prefer all weather.

I previously had the the Michelin Pilot Super Sports (those lost tread very quickly) and Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+

I am looking for a softer/quieter/smoother drive.

The Pirellis are quite a bit cheaper. In some ways you get what you pay for, however I'm not sure the Contis are worth the extra money.

I put Michelin Defender tires on a year and a half ago on our '97 855 GLT. They are great -- good handling and smooth and quiet.

Ive sold a lot of tires.

Was the wear on the Michelins even? If not alignment issues, lack of rotation or overly worn suspension components may have shortened their life.

Assuming stock wheels you’ve got a 16” Wheel, any of the above recommendations should be pretty quiet. Noisy tires are usually the lower price range Chinese brands that have flooded the market over the past decade, although some are actually pretty good. But if you got any of the above brands you should be good.

If you’re running larger diameter wheels expect really good tires to have shorter tread life (a hard compound is a primary way to engineer longer tread life but also leads to road noise as the tire wears).

Per the question above, Hankook Ventus Nobles are good tires.

If you think you’re more sensitive to road noise than 99% of the population I’d stick with either those Michelins, Bridgestone Serenity’s or some Conti Procontacts.

Some of the tire manufacturer-owned shops will have a thirty day buy and try. So if you take a chance on a tire and it’s too noisy you can swap out to a different tire. I’d ask about that before the purchase though, it’s not universal.

Then I guess you are no longer running the 17" Volans. Lower profile tires are never going to be softer, smoother, or quieter. I would think that the Michelin Pilots are you best bet. If the ride is getting hard, your struts may be worn.

I really like the Hankook Ventus v12. Ran about 3 sets of those. Really like them a lot. Not as quiet but very good all season.

I now have a set of BFGoodrich g-Force COMP-2 A/S 215/45R17 on my wagon. Nice grip in wet weather. Seems tough so far, pretty quiet.

Also have 2 sets of Cooper Zeon RS-3's. Not as quiet, rides a little harder, good grip.

All of my tires have been 215/45-17 for the past 6 years.

So I received 3 quotes for a complete set of 4 tires w/ balance and road hazard:

Continental Surecontact RX (Basically DWS 06) made for Tire Kingdom: $585
Michelin Pilot Super Sports: $690
BF-Goodrich G-Force Comp-2 A/S: $460

Trying to decide what to buy. Let me know what your thoughts are.

I've never run Pilots but I have run a lot of Michelin - always thought there was more road noise than needed. For the price and the tire, I'd go with the Contis.

What size wheels/tires?

I just saw that someone posted a while back...are we supposed to be running 215/45/17 tires with Volans? Was there a technical bulletin about this?
