P80 P2 Electrical connectors tip

Well, Ive been mechanicing for 50 years now.

Electrical connectors on Volvos and other cars have been giving me nightmares, trying to figure out how to use my hands to release the clip and separate them...

.....until today.

Simple tip. PUSH the connector more firmly closed while applying pressure to the release tab,when tab pops, then pull apart.

Its really that simple.

Ive busted more swear word dictionaries trying to undo these than I care to confess..

More often as they angle them or position them so you can't quite get 2 hands onto them firmly to disconnect. Also there has to be a mandatory sharp pointy metal bracket or other that is guaranteed to remove skin.

Me too!

What I do now is wait until my brother comes around. I let him disconnect my electrical connectors... He seems to have the patience to not overthink them!

At least they aren't as bad as Saab electrical connectors...

For stubborn connectors, use a toothpicks as a wedges to hold the tabs as you pull the connector apart.
You can also lift the tab and slide a small piece of thin and ridge plastic film under it. The film will keep it from relatching.
