Need help identifying part.

Post by nooneau » Sat Mar 03, 2018 7:26 pm

Part came apart, only spring left.
Would appreciate help. :)
Engine is hard to start, have to rev a little to get running.
Engine then runs between 600 and 1400 revs mostly in the higher range.

It might be listed on the vacuum hose routing sticker under the hood.

Any problems you noticed with the car before you found this random spring??

Might be something from the thrttle cable? How does it idle? Do you have lag when pressing on the gas? Has the car died unexpectedly?

I believe it's a a sensor or switch on the vacuum line that connects the brake servo to either/both the manifold inlet and the vacuum pump.
It's the dooby-whacker in this item on FCP.

I had an audible buzzing from the same part when I switched off the engine. On inspection I found the top and bottom piece starting to separate, which I fixed with electrical tape and a zip tie. That was 18 months ago now, and the brake servo still tests and works well.
Nice to see what the inside of it looks like though. Not sure if it some sort of a switch or sensor though.
