'04 C70 Jewel Low Beam Bulb Holders

My cousin scored a nice set of jewels at the junkyard the other day, and they're in great shape, but there is one problem: there are no bulb holders.
One of them has a clipped harness, which is not a huge deal, because we can work around that and fix it. The other one has a connector for the bulb, which fits on an H7 perfectly. However, we can't figure out how to secure the bulb in the reflector.
I searched around online and didn't find much of anything, and we went to several auto stores and couldn't find any socket that would work. The reflector says H7 on it, but I know newer jewels used H11 low beams, so he tried and H11 bulb without a holder and said it didn't twist in.
According to the diagrams, these are supposed to use the same spring clip as the older headlights like both of our P80s have, but the spot where it clips in is different on the jewels. He is insistent that the clip will not work, and I can't quite disagree with him.

Does anybody know what kind of bulb/holder is supposed to be used on these headlights?

I have a couple reflectors that I believe are OEM and probably pulled from a 2004 C70. Bulb sockets are labelled HB3 and H11. The HB3 has a plastic collar that appears to be held in place by 3 screws. It will accept a HB3.

This is the craziest thing. The Volvo dealer couldn't even help us figure this out. They didn't seem to know much more than the diagram, and they said it was just the spring that holds the bulb.
That H11 reflector looks like the others I've seen. I have yet to see another housing like this one.

I wonder if someone modified the bulb holders for HID's or LED bulbs so there is something like the plastic ring missing that is held in by the 2 set screws in your picture?

They probably had HIDs or LEDs at some point, judging by how the rest of the car they were removed from was modified.

It appears there is a snap ring securing the bulb. Now to figure out what is between the snap ring and the base of the bulb.

Look at the front of the reflector, might they be early reflectors "retrofitted" to the later housing, or Jewel lenses added to early lights? Note where it says SAE on the reflector in Kranz' photos. That is visible on mine through the access door on the unit. Could yours be a non-US model?

Edit- just looked at one of my OEM 98s. It doesn't look like they ground away material in your photo. Could they be aftermarket projector kits?

Second edit. Yes it looks like the one in the VS post. Snap ring would provide a friction stop to hold bulb in lamp, no groove to hold, just fits. You could possibly do this with an H7 bulb also, just put a phenolic washer between the snap ring and bulb base.

Interesting... I just checked, and it does NOT say SAE. Instead it says "ES." I take it these are e-code jewels?
The member who posted that photo is located in Spain, so that makes sense. I guess the person who bought these headlights before got them from somebody in Europe.
Anybody have any European market Volvo parts diagrams? Lol

I need to go back and clear out that car anyway... maybe we'll be able to find remnants of an HID kit or something.
Maybe a trip to the hardware store and some creativity. I can't find any evidence of anything being cut/ground off. No groove for a snap ring, but like you said, I might just fit in there.
