Hi
So I have a Volvo v50 2006 Diesel
I bought it the other week
& since then the following has started:
Clunking noise from underneath when I brake but only at about 30 miles an hr...the steering also slightly shakes braking at this speed too.
When I pull out in 1st gear there is a slight ping underneath but only when I’m turning the wheel.
Slight shaking of the vehicle when I’m driving but not all the time just feels like the engine isn’t running smoothly (it is due a service)
I have such rotten luck with cars & it was all tickedyboo when I bought it. Any ideas/help/suggestions are gratefully received!
Many thanks
Alexandra

Don't know much about a diesel but the first issue sounds like a braking issue which should be the same for all. Make sure the retaining clip is present. These could fall off and cause symptoms you describe. The pinging could be a lot of different things from an axle going bad to turbo issues...you didn't say if your V50 is a turbo or not. That would help. The issue with the engine- we would have to know more to even begin on it. Have you taken it to someone for them to look at? How much experience do you have in wrenching yourself to attempt diagnosis and repair?

Wheel/lug nuts tight? If they are I would start by looking at the axle shaft, wheel bearing, or worn control arm bushes.
