SOLD
Wanted: Volvo savvy person who isn’t afraid to tackle a transmission servo.
Selling: 2001 Volvo V70 XC, 174k mi., $1000, Bristol, VA.
2.4L L5 Turbo engine, av. 20 mpg. (uses regular grade gasoline)
Platinum Green Metallic (looks dark blue to me!); Beige/Light Sand Interior
Premium Package with wood trim inlays, leather seats, steering wheel (very good condition) and gear knob, simulated wood door trim.
Cold Weather Package too, heated driver and passenger seats w/lumbar support, power seat adjust, auto-dim rearview mirror, power sunroof, power outside mirrors w/defrost, remote power transmitters, Winter Mode trans option, sweet headlamp wipers. Bonus handy built-in windshield clip for parking pass, rear cargo protection security cover, built-in child booster seats.
All lights inside and out, sunroof/AC/heat/vents/panel controls work, including the AM/FM/CD/Cassette sound system (yes!)
Everything is original to the car body except for a sideview mirror that got bopped and replaced (with a Volvo part).
Brakes good (new at 149k). New battery installed 9-12-17 (6 year warranty). Timing Belt, etc. replaced at 168k. New rear shocks and springs (Volvo parts). Clean title. No Accidents!
The car is in fair-good shape. Cosmetic issues include: wear and tear on front passenger seat and around hand brake, a few stains on the backseat at both doors and on the original rugs; scattered hail dings on hood and roof, a couple of cat scratches on hood; a three-prong scrape on front left fender trim from a close encounter with a post. The seals/gaskets around windows and doors are breaking down and need replaced. I just discovered water leaks (suspect roof rack mounts?) while cleaning out the car to sell.
I am the second owner, took over at 90k. It's had regular maintenance with all recommendations, and I have the service records. But alas, I've been getting erratic performance from the transmission and I'm thinking the tranny is going - sometimes it doesn't engage smoothly - but I'm still driving it and it runs well otherwise. A transmission shop owner said he could fix it by replacing a Servo cap (and related adjustments). Dealer just says "Failure." I'm not going there. No codes or messages except the interminable Check Engine light.
This Volvo XC70 AWD is way too good to just sell for parts. It will be a very nice vehicle for a knowledgeable Volvo individual, is it you?
I tried, but photos of the hail dings are impossible to capture! There's about 25-30 of them.

For the past year I've been getting erratic performance from the transmission at lower speeds - but I'm still driving it with care and it runs very well otherwise. A transmission shop owner said he could fix it by replacing a servo cover (and related adjustments). Dealer just says "Failure." I'm not going there. I found a 2007 XC to drive.
Regular maintenance, service records, clean title, no accidents.
