Hi
I just bought a 2004 XC70, everything is in great condition and i am very happy with it, but the washers are not working. The wipers do (all... front, rear, headlamps). I can hear the front washer motor working and the reservoir is full of liquid. I guess that there is a blockage somewhere (perhaps at the tank??) as there is no sign of liquid spraying anywhere on or under the car.
any suggestions?
much appreciated.

Disconnect the hose at the pump and see if it seems to be pumping anything out at all. Next step would be to take the pump off.
It's located on the passenger side behind the fender. The fender is fastened by only a few bolts. Not sure exactly where they are on an XC but should be two at the front behind some smaller piece of plastic and two in each wheel house. Plus the clips at the top just above the radiator.

I find the check valves in the lines just under the nozzles to be a VERY common problem. Those keep the lines from draining back so the squirters squirt immediately and you don't get much dry blade on glass time. The washer solvents dry out and plug them. Usually they have to be replaced. If you take the hose off check valve and it sprays out water you have your answer. The check valves are sold by several parts sellers and Ebay.
