New Guy, CEM, Dice issue?

Hey everyone, my first post here! My name is Shawn and I have recently acquired a 2002 V70XC with about 185 on it. Not my first Volvo, but it is my first newer one. I have a 79 245 for a while and currently also have an 83 760GLE.
I got this car and the only thing I really knew about it was that the timing belt was done at about 135 since it had a sticker on the cover. Have been getting things up to par.
I got a dedicated VIDA computer already set up and an eBay DICE. When I went to use them I got the cannot read, car not turned on, older than 99, bad CEM. Went to take the plug out and 2 pins stayed in the port. Ordered a new male plug, cut off the old plug rang it out and hooked up the new one. I still get the same message. Now I don't know if I wired up the new plug wrong or if there is something wrong with the car.
I don't get funky cluster problems. I had a shifting flare 3 to 4 that is getting better since I have flushed and put in a filter. I did notice there was a license plate bulb out. Other than those things as far as I know everything works. This is my first computerized Volvo and before I jump in a start sending components out to either be fixed or replaced I would like to make sure I did all I could do.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
