2001 S60 T5, 374K Kilometers
It started happening a month ago. Car would start fine and it would idle rough, like its laboring and misfiring (almost ready to die/shutoff). RPM will be around 800-1500 (sometimes up to 2000 or more). Me and my son kinda switch around driving this vehicle and when it first happened to him he said the lights in the car were flickering. It once died on him 3x when he started it after driving it all day with no issues. Yesterday it stalled on him while crossing one of the busiest intersections in town, without any telling signs that it wanted to stall. We wait a little while and it will start and run fine without any messages on the dash.
I started it today to do a little more troubleshooting, it rough idled the first time. Turned it off and restarted, was good again.
Trying to convince myself that this is not a MAF issue I went ahead and cleaned the MAF last Saturday. I drove it home and it was fine and dandy. Sunday is when it stalled. I disconnected the MAF while it was running good, today, and the engine died. MAF is good.
The check engine light on this will come and go (very weird) with P0447 and P1332. The CEL came on last fall and disappeared after a few days of driving the car and stayed OFF much of all winter so I never paid attention to those codes. CEL is now back with those codes.
Ran DiCE I also got ECM-903F TP sensor signal too high.
There's still quite a bit of snow on the ground and still a little cold so it would be hard to tackle the ETM at the moment. Any suggestions what troubleshooting I have to do? Will any of those codes cause what has been happening?
I don't have the hunting idle that the problematic ETMs have and my cruise control works so I'm hoping it's not the ETM just yet.
