Fuel filter location - 2008 XC70

Post by rfwnc » Wed May 16, 2018 4:43 am

I have a 2008 XC70 and am getting a P0190 code intermittently which indicates that I probably have a partially clogged fuel filter. I cannot find the fuel filter. I even purchased a service manual, downloaded it and it was not any help in locating the fuel filter. I have searched online and at the local parts houses and no one seems to have access to a fuel filter to fit this vehicle. Does anyone have any experience with this? Thanks in advance.

Fuel filter is now an integrated part of the fuel pump. If it were me I would change the fuel pressure sensor that should be located on the fuel rail of the engine where the injectors come off.

As above, if you still replace the pump, don't discard it as it may actually be good and the problem may be elsewhere. Ask the mechanic to keep it. These intank filters last forever. Plus, there's a secondary filter before the actual filter, the chances to get clogged are slim.

Thanks guys, I will replace the fuel pressure sensor first and see if that stops the error code. Could the pressure sensor cause the engine to misfire? I have noticed that I usually get a couple of misfires just before the check engine light comes on. After driving for a day or so the check engine light clears and no other misfires for several days. Thanks again.
