Help with odd turbo / carb issue

Post by aki048 »

Hey Guys,
Just joined today.
I was hoping someone could give me a clue about for my volvo beef.
I have a 2.4t manual that was driving well albeit a bit sluggish.... it started to really struggle to pick up revs at slow speed and other times it picks up well and goes.
I changed the air filter and plugs and all seemed well, no bad oily plugs or anything. Anyway still the problem comes and goes..
Just ordered a MAF sensor, couldn't find any air leaks, but the message has just appeared to " service emissions system. could this be the carb collection box and would it make the car behave as it does?
cheers Guys, hope you can help.

Welcome to the forum!

Do you have an OBD2 codes?

The MAF sounds like a possibility here, but it may be a good idea to check the TCV. It sounds like this is probably a boost-related issue.

I think you have two issues - one the check engine light and then the performance problem.

For the engine light - if it is new - check your gas cap.

The TCV is the turbo control valve, it's a small black solenoid with 3 hoses coming off of it. It's located near the air box.
